Tomboy Glam Card

Designer Kim Hughes is back to share a technique with us. Kim calls this her “tomboy glam” look and is the perfect look for the not-so-girly girl in your life. Kim combines a faux denim background with a little bling and a faux sash.

Here is Kim’s card:

Girly Card

by Kim Hughes, Roy, UT

supplies: cardstock, Core’dinations; patterned paper, Cornish Heritage Farms; stamps, Cornish Heritage Farms; ink, Ranger; ribbon, SEI; rhinestone, Me & My Big Ideas; distress tool, Heidi Swapp; tool, ScorPal

Here is what Kim did:

1. Stamp houndstooth pattern onto green paper with a darker green ink

2. Stamp cheetah pattern onto orange paper with a darker orange ink

3. Stamp weave pattern onto blue paper with blue ink

Image

a. Apply ink to a large backgrounder stamp and leave it facing up. Press blue paper onto the inked stamp. By applying ink more than once, it gives it a denim look

b. Use a distress tool to rough up the edges to give the paper a worn demin look and feel

4. Stamp sentiment and add a bling dot to "girly"

5. Add a faux sash to the card

Image

a. Use wide, heavy ribbon and fold back the ends and bring them to a point

6. Tie the ribbon in a knot and add to the card

7. Adhere all papers to a white cardstock base
