Summer Fullerton

Image

Summer Fullerton lives just west of Portland, OR, with her husband Brad and their 2 kids Grant and Corinne. Summer's creative journey began when she was a little girl. She grew up surrounded by creative inspiration, as her mother made dolls, jewelry, pottery and even designed wallpaper.

Summer received her first camera at only 6 years old and her first SLR when she was 12. When Summer was in high school she kept scrapbooks of photos and memorabilia taped to typing paper tucked into 3 ringed school binders. It is only natural she started scrapbooking as we know it today after the birth of her son 13 years ago. Summer considers herself a traditional clean lined multi photo scrapbooker. She absolutely loves playing with a little of the unexpected on her layouts whether it's a pop of color or a product used in a new way.

We asked Summer to share a little bit about herself...

My favourite colour combination is … light blue, brown, yellow with a splash of something unexpected (funny thing is you will find this same color combination through out my house)

My absolute three favourite products are … patterned paper, punches, & buttons (I don't think I could pick specific manufacturers there are too many awesome companies to pick from)

My scrapbooking motto is … enjoy the process!!!

My favourite movie I could watch over and over again is … toss up between Clueless and Sense and Sensibility (do you see the trend)

I am hopelessly addicted to ... chocolate cover pretzels & reality TV

My favourite non-scrappy store to shop in is … Anthropologie, even though I don't buy all that much from there the store just makes me happy it's a shoppers paradise

A Christmas gift I will always remember is … when I was about 11 I wanted a stereo you know something with an AM/FM radio, cassette and turntable my mom told me Santa couldn't afford it but I got one anyways

One random fact about me is … I lettered in Dance and Golf in High School all 4 years.

A tip I would like to share is … bottom line with scrapbooking is it's about the photos, stories and memories don't let the everything else on the page outshine why you are scrapbooking to begin with. When in doubt start with a neutral base cardstock (my favorite is Kraft), smaller scale patterned papers are easier to work with and accent in 3's.

In 2007 Summer was named to the Creating Keepsakes Hall of Fame and in 2009 was a Memory Maker Master. Summer has had her work published in all the major publications and just had her first book published titled "Remember This".
