Kelly Purkey
As a single girl, Kelly often gets asked what she scrapbooks about. To insure she always has a good answer to this question, Kelly enjoys filling up her life with wonderful friends, amazing adventures and travels, life in the big city, and lots of delicious food. All of which create excellent photo opportunities for her to scrap.
We had a few minutes to catch up with Kelly (in between flights!!) and asked her some questions:
Q. How did you get started scrapbooking?
I've always taken a lot of photos and my neighbor growing up was a Creative Memories Consultant. She had me over for party my Sr. Year of high school and I was addicted.
Q. Where do you draw the most inspiration from?
I get most of my inspiration from online galleries and blogs. I love the gallery at Studio Calico… so many talented members there.
Q. What is your favourite colour combination right now?
I just painted my living room gray, so I'm loving anything paired with gray right now. Yellow + gray is a current favorite.
Q. Can you share any design secrets?
I love sketches! They're so easy to use again and again by rotating or taking elements away. Sketches are definitely my secret weapon when I get stuck and need some motivation.
Q. What are you favourite scrapbook supplies right now?
I am loving the new State Fair line from Studio Calico, as well as their new Mister Huey's. I never thought I'd be a mist kind of girl, but it's become quite addicting. I also am having fun using the Campy Trails line from American Crafts. The outdoorsy theme is not at all my personality, but I love the color combination and graphic designs.
Q. Tell us about a typical day in Kelly’s life!
There's no such thing as typical in my life ;) I am lucky enough to work from home, so I will stay up late and sleep in late. In the morning I will get some design work done for Studio Calico, while constantly checking my Google Reader and Twitter. After lunch, I try to make it to the gym, or will work through the afternoon. Since I travel so much, I try to see my friends as much as possible when I'm home so I'll meet someone for dinner or a movie after they get out of work. After that it's back home to do some more work while I watch some bad reality tv on Bravo.

Bio:
Kelly lives on the island of Manhattan in New York City, which is a dream come true for her. She works from home as a freelance scrapbooker and designer, but is often flying around the country to teach classes or dip her toes in the ocean. Kelly has worked as a product designer at American Crafts, was a member of the 2008 & 2009 Creating Keepsakes Dream team, has contributed to a variety of publications, and is an instructor at Creating Keepsakes Conventions.
Kelly loves photobooths, the Brooklyn Bridge, art museums, stamps in her passport, and impromptu dance parties.
