Introducing Barb Wong from Ottawa, Ontario! Barb has been a long time reader of SCT (since the first issue!) and we thought it would be nice to get to know Barb a little better. She is a working mom to two very busy boys, Thomas and James, and happily married to her best friend, Mike. She is a self-proclaimed obsessed scrapbooker, a self-professed geek, a procrastinator and a blogger. "Life is good" says Barb! Her interests include running, 80s music, scrapbooking, science, tennis, running and fitness.
We asked Barb a few questions and here is what she had to say...
What are your top three favourite products right now?
- American Crafts Thickers - I've love letter stickers of all kinds, but the added texture and dimension of Thickers makes them irresistable
- Echo Park patterned papers - I love the fresh, fun designs, especially the Sweet Summertime line which was designed by Crystal Wilkerson, who just happens to be one of my favourite designers of digital scrap supplies!
- border punches - If I had more storage space, I'd own a whole lot more than I already do
What is your favourite part of SCT magazine?
May I choose more than one? I love love LOVE the inspiration in the Readers' Gallery in every issue, and I adore the 3 designer challenge in which three of SCT's talented design team members showcase different ways of using the same set of products.
Where do you find your inspiration comes from?
I get a lot of inspiration from reading blogs (including the SCT blog!) and looking at projects by other scrapbookers online and in magazines. I also follow a few artsy-crafty microblogs on tumblr.com and keep my own tumblr of eye candy. http://scrappinspiration.tumblr.com/
I created my layout using products from Nikki Sivil's My Friend Birdie line. I cut the blue and yellow patterned paper into a shape inspired by a newspaper ad, and I also cut the pennant banner from a sheet of patterned paper. I loved the fun colour scheme of the line... it complimented my photos perfectly. I used the label and alphabet stickers to help me tell my story, and I finished off with three corduroy covered brads. I arranged them to mimic the balloons in the photos. I love that the colours match the papers perfectly!
