Mom had a beautiful shiny black Singer sewing machine that dad bought her when they were married. It sat on a table in the basement. One day I was sewing & accidentally stepped on the cord; the machine toppled to the floor & smashed. I am not sure who cried more. Mom did get a new machine, but it was not the same as the beautiful black machine. She is always mending, hemming or fixing something. She keeps saying, "I would like to try sewing on a card or scrapbooking page, but I don’t think my machine could do it.” I would love for her to have this sewing machine.

Dear Scrapbook and Cards,

I've been scrapbooking for 2 and a half years and I love it!! Since I started scrapbooking I've always wanted to do some sewing on my pages, so with a little budget I've decide to find an old one on the net.

I did and was verry excited to finaly try some sewing....the machine does not work...hummm ok.
Time past and a older lady friend with my mother decide to give me her old machine!! Yes I will be able to do some testing on my pages and just can't wait!!  It does not work!! I have two machines that don't work and they are not from Janome!!

So I think I'm cursed...please HELP me break the circle and break the curse. I want to do some sewing on my pages!! So JANOME IS THE ONLY ONE FOR ME.

One day a Janome will be mine!  Oh yes one day it will be mine!!

Thank you!!!
Sophie Laliberté

ps: sorry for my poor English but I think sewing is an international language .lol

One day when my 2 1/2 year old was supposed to be down for a nap he discovered that my sewing machine was in his closet.  He dragged it out and lifted the cover off, plugged it in and tried to sew a diaper to one of his books and got it stuck.  Then, deciding that he was Bob the Builder and that he needed to repair it because he couldn’t get it to work right, he took his toy tools and hammered it until he broke the needle, the thread holder, and the dial that changes stitch types.  Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Janome,

I am writing you because my 1973 Kenmore machine is tired and old. It has helped raise and clothe 3 children and sewed and mended it's whole life and is now moving closer to retirement with each Grandchild that arrives. My new love (a Janome) will be much lighter for these feeble hands and arms to lift and will have a much sharper memory then the person running it or the machine it replaces. It wouldn't try to eat the paper it is sewing any more than the materials it will sew. It will create new memories while preserving the old. It will become a friend for this empty-nester who will be moving on to retirement before long! So please consider giving "new life" to my past and future memories!

Thank you for considering my entry!

Something is missing in my life, a whirl, a purr, a tidy stitch. It haunts me. Life is holes poked neatly around my page, tiny hand drawn threads connecting together.  I yearn for real thread not just hand stitched. It was 1984, grade 8 sewing; the machine and I faced off to the death over an apron. It won and I ran in tears; the humiliation.  I have stitch lust now.  I feel like I have the strength to overcome this fear of 24 years. I will conquer this fear of sewing machines; I can do this.

Why do I deserve to win the wonderful Janome sewing machine???

  1. I never owned a sewing machine since birth & I've been wanting to buy one
  2. I love sewing on my cards & layouts
  3. I've had about hundreds of needle pricks on my fingers while hand-sewing my projects. Ouch!
  4. I started running out of band-aides because of all the pricks I've had
  5. I think I'll be anemic if I start losing more blood from all those needle pricks
  6. I can't seem to get the perfect stitches with hand-stitching
  7. It takes too much time to finish my layouts when they're hand stitched
  8. I'd love to learn more stuff with a sewing machine
  9. With a new sewing machine, I can create more projects, not just cards & layouts but possibly even learn to create a dress for my little girl & her Barbie Dolls
  10. I'll be the happiest girl if I'd have the chance to win this awesome prize

Got my fingers crossed for this one.
