






















Here are the instructions for the great, uniquely-shaped cards found in our we’re not square article on pages 27-30.
summer

instructions:
- Fold a 12x12 piece of yellow cardstock-weight paper in half and trace flower template onto front of fold; cut out flower. Note: Leave top petal with a straight edge so it will still be attached to fold when cut.
- Open up flower and machine stitch around outside edge; once with white thread and again with red thread; adhere flower sticker to center of card front.
- Stamp “summer” sentiment onto white cardstock with versamark; add red embossing powder; heat; ink edges and cut out; adhere to center of flower sticker.
- Stamp “Sizzling sunshine etc…” onto red paper with embossing ink; add white embossing powder; cut out.
- Adhere red chipboard flower to center of stamped summer image; layer small stamped circle over flower and adhere red gem in the center.
- Trace two leaves from green paper and adhere to back of flower in upper left corner.
- Trace flower again onto red paper and cut out; adhere to back of yellow flower; ink edges of yellow flower in red and begin folding edges back (along stitching line) to reveal red flower behind.

instructions:
- Trace a shoe pattern (or draw a template like I did) on the back of a 5.5x4.25 card; cut out and ink edges.
- Trace a heel pattern (or draw a template like I did) on the back of a 5.5x4.25 card; cut out and adhere on top of shoe base.
- Trace a strap pattern or cut a strip of paper to form the strap; lightly ink edges.
- String thread through the button and add to the strap.
- Hang the sentiment sticker down from the button with a plastic tag.
beach ball

instructions:
- Fold cardstock in half and cut desired circle leaving a small bit of the fold uncut.
- Print or write greeting on inside of card.
- Using the same size circle cut 3 more from cardstock and patterned paper (as desired).
- Lay 3 circles on top of each other and cut semi-circles from top and bottom and then cut into 3 crescent shapes—leave middle crescent bigger than the others
- Separate the 3 crescents and piece them together.
- Use one more same-size circle of a contrasting paper or colour as the ends of the beach ball.
- Stamp greeting on the inside edges of the center crescent.
- Stitch all edges together.

instructions:
- Make a 5.5x4.25 card from turquoise cardstock.
- Trace a number 3 on olive cardstock measuring approx. 4x 5.25 and cut out.
- Stamp paisleys with olive ink on the #3; adhere to card front.
- Carefully cut around the #3 shape leaving a small turquoise border.
- With black marker, freehand around the #3; fill in with turquoise marker.
- Along top right of card, punch three holes with a hole punch and add ribbons.
- Stamp sentiment on strip of patterned paper and outline with marker.
- Stamp present and colour in with coordinating markers; add stickles to dots on the gift.
- Wrap the sentiment around the #3 and adhere with a pop dot.
- Tuck the present under the sentiment and adhere with a pop dot.
- Cut out a 5.5x4.25 piece of patterned paper and adhere to inside of card.
Look at how I decided to use ribbon for the strap of the apron – it adds texture, interest, and is flexible enough to be folded inside an envelope.

instructions:
- Make a 5.5x4.25 top-fold card from cardstock.
- Cut out a curve from each side of the card to make an apron shape.
- Cut a 3x4.5 piece of blue patterned paper and adhere to the bottom of the card front.
- Machine sew around the outside of the apron.
- Cut a 4.5x.5 piece of green paper and machine sew on each edge.
- Add green paper to the top of the apron and add flower accent.
- Stamp “kiss the cook.”
- Adhere ribbon at the top of the apron (tape it to the back of the card).

baby face

instructions:
- Draw a baby face onto the back of cream cardstock; fold at the top of the head and cut out.
- Rub the front of the card onto an adhesive sheet to make it sticky.
- Press flock onto the adhesive and tap off excess.
- Cut out a nose shape and repeat steps 2 and 3.
- Add brad eyes, the nose, and ribbon for the mouth.
- Cut a curl from polka dot paper and add behind the card.
- Add flower sticker to the base of the hair.
Birdie

instructions:
- Cut and fold patterned paper to make a square card.
- Trace bird pattern on front of the card, lining up the top of the bird with the fold of the card.
- Cut out bird design making sure not to cut the fold.
- Trace and cut out wing and beak.
- Ink edges of all pieces.
- Stamp sentiment on wing.
- Hand-stitch wing border and attach to card front.
- Fold beak in half and attach to card front.
- Attach pink polka dot brad on card front for eye.
