Junior Year by Summer Fullerton

Hello, there!

Thank you so much for joining me again today for the August edition of “OLD NEW BORROWED COOL!” Can you believe it’s already AUGUST 1st?! August around here means the end of summer, the closing of the pool and the start of SCHOOL! Yes, I said it! (Please don’t shoot the messenger!)

I hope you are like me and have had a fantastic, busy, wonderful – albeit HOT – summer! I can’t say we did anything extraordinary, but we were very fortunate to have many events that will always make us remember the Summer of 2012. Things like taking in the matinee of The Avengers the first day of summer break, heading to our local splash pool whenever we had a spare minute or perhaps the best – adopting a new 10-month old chocolate lab pup will never be forgotten! Yes, this summer has been one to remember and what better way to document it than within my scrapbook pages?! I always say “get things down now” while the memories are still fresh and the perspective is in the now and time hasn’t diluted your memories!

And that’s exactly what I did for you in this month’s Old New Borrowed Cool! It’s funny how everything seems to come full circle and I am once again talking about bluebirds (see May’s edition) but bluebird monitoring is absolutely one of our favorite summer family activities. The five of us take the responsibility for going to our local boxes and documenting the status of the bluebird (a native Kentucky bird) for the wildlife park. I can’t tell you how excited the boys get when they find a nest, eggs – or even better BABY BIRDS! – in those boxes. Seeing baby birds has been a rarity for us since we usually monitor early in the spring/summer when nesting is just occurring. But this year we had a much later time period and we were rewarded with both new hatchlings and fledgling birds about ready to leave the nest! And that, my friends, just HAD to be put to paper!

But before I share the results of my creative endeavor, as always I want to recap once more about the premise for this blog series. Each month I’ll bring you a new post that incorporates something OLD from my stash, something NEW that I might have just picked up and something BORROWED from wherever I can get it to create something COOL to share with you! It’s as simple as that.

This month’s selections were:

OLD: Some oldie but goodie October Afternoon paper & BasicGrey Offbeat chipboard alphas

NEW: BasicGrey’s Serenade line – a new CHA Summer release –including these fun new banners!

BORROWED: Okay, so not exactly borrowed – more like purchased – but American Crafts Thickers and Studio Calico cloud stamps from my friend Shannon’s scrappy supply. (You gotta love having a friend that’s scrappy like you are!)

COOL: This easy, breezy layout perfect for documenting your favorite summer memory!
